Dr. Jon Bielby is a Reader in Animal Behaviour at Liverpool John Moores University. Dr. Bielby has worked with amphibians and reptiles for almost 20 years, and although his initial focus was heavily conservation-based, his interests now include welfare in living collections, the pet trade, and society. This shift in emphasis has been driven by his research on amphibian chytridiomycosis, and an increasing wish to understand and cater for the needs of individual animals rather than solely the sustainability of populations or species.

Dr. Bielby will be discussing “Pathogens, pet-trade, and policy: Reptile and amphibian welfare in the UK” on Saturday Oct 29, 10:45-11:30am ADT. Find out more on our website.
