Sheep and Animal Welfare – October 18

The Sir James Dunn Animal Welfare Centre and the AVC Student Animal Welfare Club will hold an evening session of informal presentations about sheep and animal welfare at the Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island, on Thursday, October 18th, at 7 p.m. The programme includes presentations by members of the National Farm Animal Care Council (NFACC) Sheep Code Development Committee.

Members of the public are welcome to attend the presentations, particularly producers, veterinarians, and veterinary students.

The presentations will cover a variety of topics related to animal welfare, and sheep health, welfare and production, including the NFACC’s code development process; shepherding in British Columbia; parasite control; grazing management; grading of carcasses, handling facilities; transportation problems; veterinarians and animal welfare policy development; and the welfare benefits of managing a healthy flock.
